Filion Dollar Baby
March 18, 2005

Mike Filion is a southern Californian who builds custom cars, rods, and sport trucks at a shop in Santa Ana called Pro Design Hot Rods. His rods and customs show up on magazine covers and win trophies, so when he decided to build a tow vehicle, it was a safe bet his custom shortbed '70 Chevrolet Crew Cab was going to be special. It was also a safe bet that it was going to ride on BFGoodrich® tires—the World's Hottest Street Tires.

Why? Filion has been a believer in BFGoodrich tires as long as he's been in business. Everything has to be perfect in Filion's rides. To make the '70 Crew Cab custom sport truck required hundreds of hours of sculpting, building, and creating hundreds of modifications to turn a classic into something special. He cut down the bed from long to short, which meant chopping the chassis to accommodate the shortened bed. Then he boxed the rear frame, replaced the rear suspension, lowered the roofline, shaved the stake pockets, built a custom aluminum tonneau cover and, put a '98 GM Vortec 350 under the hood.

He knew he wanted the truck to roll on Budnik rims, and when it came to tires, Filion didn't have to spend any time deciding. The rubber he wanted was the BFGoodrich g-Force™ T/A®KDW tire: 255/40R19s up front, and even more massive 295/40R20s out back.

"It's a great tire, with a great look and great performance," says Filion. "I've been running BFGoodrich tires for years. They look good, they perform, and they come in the sizes I need." Visit Filion's shop online at www.prodesignhotrods.com.
