Ali Scores Technical Knockout March 18, 2005 Leading Subaru builder-tuner-driver Ali Afshar has made his company name Easy Street Motorsports—ESX for short—synonymous with speed. Serious speed—like a quarter mile personal best of 9.44 seconds @ 148 MPH in a street-legal Subaru, achieved on BFGoodrich® g-Force™ T/A® Drag Radial tires. ESX has won numerous NHRA drag racing titles on BFGoodrich® rubber. Now, in conjunction with Subaru, Easy Street Motorsports is producing a limited edition Ali Afshar Signature Series ESX/STi. Each car is hand-built, numbered, and signed by Ali at his North Hollywood, California shop. Hurry if you're interested: the car is available through selected Subaru dealers, and the entire production run is nearly spoken for. The Signature Series ESX/STi made its debut at the January Los Angeles Auto Show, in the signature red paint scheme of Easy Street's ESX race cars, with a red interior and custom dash that features touch-screen navigation. Wheels are custom 18x8.5-inch rims shod with BFGoodrich® g-Force™ T/A®KDW tires. Why BFGoodrich? "They do great," Ali says, of his BFGoodrich tires. "They really grip and they're very consistent, which makes the job of tuning the car easier." While a specific horsepower figure has yet to be announced, Ali says his Signature ESX STi will have "serious" power. And Ali knows power: he forged his reputation driving a Subaru WRX tweaked to 740 HP. This year, Easy Street Motorsports is running a 950 HP WRX with a complete interior, stock CD player, and power windows. The new limited edition street car is expected to top 400 HP.
