"Without a Doubt, I Believe This is the Best Off-Road Tire."
June 6, 2005

Talk about your tough tire test. How about equipping a team of Land Rovers and sending them on a global navigation across four continents and some of the world's worst roads to help raise money for Parkinson's Research?

The Drive Around The World Longitude Expedition did just that, which took 15 months to complete. The Expedition covered 45,000 miles on a journey that passed through 30 countries. All of the Expedition's Land Rover Discoverys were equipped with BFGoodrich® Mud Terrain T/A&174;KM tires. And after all those miles across fearsome terrain, the leaders of the Expedition team were more than happy with the tires.

"We drove the entire Pan-American Highway—the longest motorable road in the world, from the top of Alaska to the bottom tip of South America—and not a single puncture," said Nick Baggarly, Drive Around The World Longitude Expedition leader. Baggarly said the Mud-Terrain tires took the vehicles through swamps in Peru and roads in Chile that appeared impassable.

Expedition navigator Nancy Olson spoke about the challenging conditions as well. "The roads in Chile had potholes wider than the track of the Rover Discoverys, and deeper than the radius of the tires. I don't think any of us have driven a worse road anywhere."

Before returning to Sunnyvale, CA, on February 28, 2005, the team traveled through Russia and part of China. For a trip like that, Olson said, "You have to have a tire that can handle it all without flinching. The tire and your vehicle is your lifeline."

Baggarly is convinced of the outstanding capabilities of the BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain T/A®KM tire. "This tire got us out of some very interesting situations in some very remote places. Without a doubt, I believe this is the best off-road tire."

BFGoodrich® tires are The World's Toughest Off-Road Tires™. In 2004, BFGoodrich tires won more than 75% of major off-road competitions.
