Making History On Four WheelsMay 8, 2003 Supercross Champ Jeremy McGrath Wins Oakland Roadster Show Seven-time Supercross motorcycle champ Jeremy McGrath is the proud owner of a champion hot rod - a '33 roadster that won the 2003 Oakland Rod, Custom & Motorcycle Show, the biggest event on the hot-rod show circuit. Jeremy's gleaming silver '33 hi-boy was built by Dominator Street Rods in Brentwood, California. It's powered by a stout V8 and rides on BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A® KDW tires on Colorado Custom Wheels, 17s in front, 20s in back. Dominator Street Rods proprietor Leonard Lopez says BFGoodrich tires have the right tread pattern and silhouette for a street rod, especially for a roadster. "With a roadster, you see it all," says Lopez. "The tires are out there in front of everybody. The KDW's have a distinctive tread pattern without being too aggressive. And the tire's side profile looks a little squarer than other brands. The squareness pronounces the tire better than a rounded-off type sidewall."
Besides the looks, Lopez says, the KDWs ride right. "The sidewall isn't overly stiff. The tire's not too rigid, even with the smaller size, and the traction is excellent."BFGoodrich tires have appeared on numerous award-winning hot rods. Look for a model of Jeremy's '33 roadster to go on sale later this year. Photos courtesy Dominator Street Rods. |
