The Hot New Mustang Is In Our StableMay 16, 2003 The Highly Anticipated 2005 Ford Will Ride On BFGoodrich® Tires The 2005 Concept Mustang GT, which has lit up the 2003 auto show circuit and countless magazine covers is an enthusiast's dream Mustang. The design deliberately evokes the original Mustangs that started the whole "pony car" thing back in the mid '60s, but in a stunningly modern way. Just as exciting is the performance promise. The Concept Mustang GT features a supercharged, intercooled 4.6-liter V8 that makes 400 horsepower. It sits on 20-inch wheels shod with BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A® KDW tires, 245/40ZR20s in front and 275/35ZR20s in back. Like the Concept, the 2005 production Mustang will offer BFGoodrich T/A tires in two sizes: 16 inch Traction T/A for the base Mustang and 18 inch g-Force T/A KDW for the GT.
Matching the excitement of the 2005 Mustang with the performance capability of BFGoodrich tires continues an association that goes back to the 1996 SVT Mustang Cobra and later the 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R, which came exclusively on BFGoodrich g-Force T/A® KD tires. The latter was a nearly unbeatable combination. It registered the highest skidpad reading of the 140-plus U.S.-spec production cars Car and Driver tested during 2001.Photos courtesy Ford Motor Co. |
