BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A®KD Tires Win 2003 "Car and Driver" Shootout
September 22, 2003

Comptech Honda S2000 beats 15 other hot tuner-built sport compacts by almost 4 seconds!
On the cover of the August issue of Car and Driver is a yellow Comptech Honda S2000 -- overall winner of the magazine's 2003 shootout for modified production cars. Make that 16 sweet sport compacts from some of the leading tuner shops. The competition is a continuous one-lap run on a special configuration of California Speedway in Fontana. The C and D test circuit begins with a timed quarter mile down the pit road followed by a 1.1-mile road race circuit through the infield, then back onto the speedway oval for Turn Two and acceleration through Turn One up to 130 MPH, and then brake to a stop.

The Comptech S2000 on BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A®KD tires won overall with a fast time of 124.1 seconds, beating the second-place car by an extraordinary 3.7 seconds.

Here's what Car and Driver technical editor Larry Webster said about driving the Comptech Honda on g-Force T/A®KD tires:

"That was the fastest car all day, the car all the others were trying to catch up with. It was really a dreamy car. It was simple to drive fast. It was really well-balanced and the breakaway characteristics were gradual and very easy to catch. You lose five points if you hit a cone on the course -- and I never hit a cone. It's very easy to feed in the power coming out of the turns. Nothing sudden happened, no surprises or snap recoveries. It just communicated so clearly what was going on down at the contact patches you could just sort of know exactly where you were and when you were getting a little bit loose.

"One of the neat things about the g-Force T/AKD is that it has those big fat tread blocks, which give the tire a predictable feel. Every time we've installed a set on a street car, they always increase grip."
