Prerunner preeminent
December 20, 2004

One of the hottest looks in truck customization today is the California prerunner — raising your pickup and mounting serious off-road rubber to achieve the look of a desert prerunner in street driveable form. (Prerunners are the near competition-spec trucks off-road racers use to "pre-run" major events like the Baja 1000.)

CST Performance Suspension in Riverside, California, builds both complete trucks and suspension kits for custom and performance projects. One of the latter is this attention-grabbing 2004 Titan — with a 7-inch lift and Baja-winning BFGoodrich® Baja T/A®KR tires.

"Long-travel lifts like the ones on this truck are a package that's very, very popular in California now," says Brand Myers, CST marketing manager. "It's a trend that's spreading across the country."

This hot-looking Titan is modified with a CST 7-inch lift kit that includes long travel rear leaf springs and coilovers with triple bypass shocks with reservoirs. It features fiberglass fenders and bed sides, titanium-coated headers and a billet grille. The interior features a multi-speaker stereo, racing seats and a dash with a painted upper half and carbon fiber lower.

The look and function is all about off-road capability, in true prerunner style. And because the last 18 straight SCORE Baja 1000s have been won on BFGoodrich® tires, this Titan sport truck rides on 37x12.50R17 BFGoodrich Baja T/AKR tires- just like a lot of racers' prerunners.

BFGoodrich® tires are The World's Toughest Off-Road Tires™. From 1/1/04 through 10/21/04, BFGoodrich® tires won 215 of 280 major off-road competitions.
