The big winners were brothers Dale and Mike Dondel, who not only won Class 1 on both days, but also posted the fastest overall time for the event with a 1:33:28 for eight laps of the 13-mile course. (The event's unique format calls for competitors to run a set number of laps each day, with the total time for both days determining the winner.) The Dondels averaged 66.762 mph over the 104-mile distance in their Chevrolet powered Nye Frank open wheeler to edge out defending Class 1 Champion Troy Herbst and his BFGoodrich Tires-equipped Ford-powered Smithbuilt racer. In the premier Trophy-Truck division, Dan Smith claimed the victory in his Ford F-150 in one of the many close contests of the weekend, finishing less than a minute ahead of his closest rival.
