February 2, 2001 BFGoodrich® Brand Ready for Second Season Greenville, SC The BFGoodrich® brand is on board for another season as the official tire of the American Speed Association's ACDelco Series, continuing a partnership that made history last year for both the ASA and BFGoodrich Tires. It was the first time that Series' competitors ran on radial tires, the BFGoodrich Traction T/A®, and it marked the BFGoodrich brand's debut in oval track racing. There were those who doubted that radials would work. But, any question was quickly dismissed as the Traction T/As not only worked well, but also provided an advantage over the bias-ply tires used in the past. Drivers were able to run consistent lap times throughout an event, and that changed race strategies by taking tires out of the equation. It meant racing was flat-out, flag-to-flag. "We learned a lot about tire performance on ovals and at different tracks, and we put that knowledge to work in improving the Traction T/A," said Todd Steen, a motorsports manager for the BFGoodrich brand. "Our program for 2001 is focused on continuing to enhance our tire's handling and durability, and to provide top-level support to the Series' competitors." Just as it did last season, the BFGoodrich brand will have a full complement of engineers and tire specialists on site at all 20 events to make sure that the teams have the information, support and products they need. As for the fans of the ASA ACDelco Series, they can expect the same heart-stopping, fender-to-fender action that made last year one of the most exciting in Series' history. BFGoodrich tires are made for people looking to take control of the driving experience. BFGoodrich tires combine technological expertise with the experience gained on and off the racetrack to offer a traction advantage for every type of vehicle and driving preference. |
