March 1, 2001 BFGoodrich® Tires Enters Fourth Year As Official Tire Supplier of Trans-Am Series
Greenville, SC
BFGoodrich® Tires will be the Official Tire Supplier and presenting sponsor to the Trans-Am Series for the fourth consecutive year. BFGoodrich Tires' commitment to the Trans-Am Series demonstrates their continuous efforts in growing the Trans-Am Series into the preeminent form of road racing in North America.
"BFGoodrich Tires is truly excited about our partnership with the Trans-Am Series," said BFGoodrich Tires Director of Motorsports Herb Johnson. "The Trans-Am Series is coming off another great year, which included tying both records for the number of different race winners (eight) in a season and the number of victorious marques (five) in a season. It's this type of high-end, professional racing that's consistent with BFGoodrich Tires' 30-year heritage in motorsports. I can't think of a better tie-in for the brand than our relationship with the Trans-Am Series."
Elements of BFGoodrich Tires' partnership with the Trans-Am Series are:
BFGoodrich® Tires Cup
- In 1999, BFGoodrich Tires unveiled a new season-ending award, called the BFGoodrich® Tires Cup, to be presented to the Trans-Am champion. In just two years, the BFGoodrich Tires Cup has become an integral aspect of the Trans-Am Series. Each BFGoodrich Tires Cup champion will have their name engraved at the bottom of the two-foot high, 50-pound trophy. Champions will then be presented a reduced-size "keeper" trophy.
- Paul Gentilozzi was awarded the first BFGoodrich Tires Cup in 1999 and Brian Simo captured the BFGoodrich Tires Cup last year in a thrilling battle with Gentilozzi.
- The BFGoodrich Tires Cup was created by renowned trophy-designer Stephen France. France developed the Indianapolis 500 PPG Pole Award and the Brickyard 400 trophy.
BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A® Radial
- BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A® radial is the official tire of the Trans-Am Series.
- BFGoodrich Tires introduced the g-Force radial family of tires in 1998.
- BFGoodrich g-Force T/A radial gives Trans-Am Series competitors an advantage in acceleration, braking, straight-line traction and consistent performance.
- The g-Force T/A family includes the following passenger tires:
- g-Force T/A KD
- g-Force T/A KDW (Key Feature: Dry and Wet traction)
- g-Force T/A KDWS (Key Feature: Dry, Wet and Snow traction).
