April 2, 2002 BFGoodrich® Tires Posts Contingency, Sponsors Two Events In NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series Greenville, SC For 2002, BFGoodrich® Tires is posting a $24,500 contingency award program for the National Hot Rod Association's Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series. In addition, the brand has backed up its commitment to the sport by taking on the role of title sponsor for two events, including the season opener in Gainesville, Fla., held in April, the first round of 10 scheduled for the nationally televised series. BFGoodrich Tires also will sponsor the second annual NHRA Sport Compact Nationals, Aug. 9-10, at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas, the sixth event on the tour. "NHRA is the benchmark for drag racing and we're proud to be participating in its Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series," said Todd Steen, motorsports manager for BFGoodrich Tires. "We were involved in a number of sport compact and import events last year, and we're stepping up with an even bigger effort this year, including a richer contingency payout for competitors running on BFGoodrich tires in the series."
