April 2, 2004BFGoodrich® Tires Challenge Turns Ordinary Drivers Into Test Drivers; Free Event Features Top Performance Cars & Tires Los Angeles, CA BFGoodrich® Tires is putting its money where its mouth is. The brand of tires famous for finishing first on the track is launching a seven-city tour where consumers can test drive some of today's hottest vehicles and determine for themselves how BFGoodrich tires stack up against the competition. Known as the BFG Challenge, this adrenaline-pumping program is free to the public and pits BFGoodrich tires against its competition in a specially designed "mobile proving ground" course.
"When we talk performance, we back it up," said Thom Peebles, brand director for BFGoodrich Tires. "This event is specifically designed to give consumers an opportunity to see how BFGoodrich Tires perform vs. the competition. Not only is this one of the only events of its kind free to consumers, it is the only program that demonstrates the value of selecting the right tire for their vehicle and the differences in performance tires."The BFG Challenge Tour features identically prepared NISMO-tuned Nissan 350Zs, Subaru WRX STis, and Acura RSX Type S sports cars. Drivers will have the opportunity to test the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A® KD tire, one of the world's stickiest street-legal tires, the g-Force T/A® KDW tire, a premier wet and dry ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire with a unique tread pattern and the g-Force Sport tire, an all-new UHP tire aimed at buyers searching for the perfect mix of price and performance. Half of the vehicles will be fitted with BFGoodrich Tires and the others will be equipped with the same size competitor tires, allowing consumers to conduct their own back-to-back tests. "This is head-to-head competition at its best," says Peebles. "We go to great lengths to ensure each car is identical so that there can be no argument about the winner." BFGoodrich Tires will take its mobile proving ground to the following events:
In addition to testing tires, drivers have the opportunity to learn valuable performance-driving skills and safety procedures from a team of BFGoodrich Tires experts. To participate, drivers must have a valid driver's license. BFGoodrich® Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high-performance tire for every type of vehicle from ultra-high performance tuner vehicles, sports cars and SUVs to the hottest sport trucks, pickups and rock-crawling rigs in the world. For more than 30 years, BFGoodrich Tires has used motorsports as a proving ground. Success on the street begins with winning on the track and BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, road, drag, desert and extreme rock-crawling. With 18 consecutive Baja 1000 wins, the most wins in rock-crawling history, and an unmatched record on pavement, BFGoodrich Tires has proven the only records it breaks are its own.
