April 27, 2004BFGoodrich® Tires Hits Big Screen This Spring; Tires Premier In Two Major Movies Greenville, S.C. BFGoodrich® tires are hitting the big screen this spring playing starring roles in two major movies: Johnson Family Vacation starring Cedric the Entertainer and Walking Tall starring the Rock. Johnson Family Vacation BFGoodrich® tires are going on vacation - a Johnson Family Vacation. The film, which takes a comedic look at what happens when a family travels cross country for a family reunion, features a Lincoln Navigator equipped with BFGoodrich's 24-inch g-Force T/A KDW tires. In the film, released by Fox Searchlight Pictures, Nate Johnson (Cedric the Entertainer) and his family embark on a cross-country trek to their annual family reunion. Reluctantly along for the ride are Nate's wife, who's only in it for the kids; their rapper-wannabe son; their teenage daughter; and their youngest, whose has an imaginary dog that Nate just can't seem to keep track of, no matter how he tries. The Johnsons have to survive each other and all the obstacles that the road throws at them. When Nate Johnson takes his Lincoln Navigator to get an 8-track player installed, he mistakenly receives a totally modified Navigator intended for Snoop Dogg - complete BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires (size 305/35ZR24), a Burberry interior, over-the-top hydraulic system, video game consoles and a navigation system that has a mind of its own. The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tire used in the movie is the first color tire to ever appear in a major motion picture. The unique tread pattern on the tire was modified to appear gray at all times. "To be consistent with the theme of the movie, we wanted to do something that was totally unique to go along with vehicle," said Thom Peebles, brand director for BFGoodrich Tires. "There has been increased interest in the concept since the tire premiered in the film." Directed by Christopher Erskin, Johnson Family Vacation is rated PG-13 and stars Vanessa Williams as Dorothy Johnson, Bow Wow as D. J. Johnson, Shannon Elizabeth as Chrishelle Rene Babineau, Christopher B. Duncan as Stan and Steve Harvey as Mack Johnson. Walking Tall In Walking Tall, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stars as a retired special forces solider who returns home to find his town overrun by criminal activity. With the help of a friend, he is elected Sheriff and takes on crime in this remake of the original classic. BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM tires equip the two main vehicles in the movie, the The Rock's red Dodge Ram pick-up truck and his black Sheriff's Department Ford Bronco. "These two films show the diversity of the range of products offered by the BFGoodrich Tires brand," said Peebles. "In one instance, the 24-inch g-Force T/A KDW is on a custom Cadillac Escalade and in the next the Mud-Terrain T/A KM is on a fully loaded Dodge Ram pick-up truck."
