July 1, 2003 BFGoodrich® Tires "Kick Asphalt" Tour Turns Consumers Into Test Drivers; Unique Programs Teaches Performance Driving Skills And Safety Tips Greenville, SC BFGoodrich® Tires' (BFG) "Kick Asphalt-Get A Grip" tour is putting consumers behind the wheel to develop performance driving skills while testing how the brand's g-Force T/A® KDW stacks up against key competitor tires. In addition to testing tires, drivers have the opportunity to learn valuable performance driving skills and safety procedures from a team of experts from BFG and Skip Barber Racing. "This program teaches the necessary skills that will help drivers on and off the track while enabling them to test-drive cars in a safe area," said Adam Murphy, performance marketing manager for BFG Tires. "By getting behind the wheel at this event, dealers and consumers can learn how to maximize the performance of their vehicle and tires." The "Kick Asphalt" tour features eight identically prepared Mazda 6s - four equipped with 225/40ZR18 g-Force T/A KDW tires and the others equipped with the same size competitor tires. Participants drive the BFG-equipped vehicle and one on the competitor tires for two laps each on an autocross course. An instructor from Skip Barber Racing is in the right seat to coach them through the course. Doing back-to-back testing gives consumers a chance to experience for themselves the differences in performance between the g-Force T/A KDW and the other tires. The events are being held in conjunction with the Import Revolution tour and to participate, drivers must have a valid drivers license. BFG Tires is partnering with Skip Barber Racing, Mazda and Vision Entertainment to produce the "Kick Asphalt" tour. Motegi Racing is responsible for supplying the wheels for all the cars. In addition, consumers will also have the opportunity to be selected to attend a special session as part of BFG's dealer training course at Township Raceway Park in New Jersey (near New York City). This special event will include test-driving a Volkswagen Jetta Turbo, Lexus IS300, Nissan 350Z and Hummer H2. BFGoodrich Tires will also hold sessions at NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia and at the Mustang Club of America's "Stampede to Dearborn II" in Detroit, Michigan. BFGoodrich® Tires, made for people looking to take control of the driving experience, combine technological expertise with the knowledge gained in motorsports to offer a traction advantage for almost every type of vehicle and driving preference.
