August 26, 2003 BFGoodrich® Tires Captures 2003 Skyjacker Women's Rock Crawling Championship; Mello and Clifford Capture Titles In Growing Women's Sport Greenville, SC BFGoodrich tires are not only helping men climb to the top of the rock pile, they are also capturing titles in the growing sport of competitive women's rock crawling. This past weekend, BFGoodrich® Tires Krawler T/A® KX helped Julie Mello and Kelly Clifford capture the 2003 Women's Rock Crawling Championship in Cedar City, Utah. Riding on Krawler T/A KX tires, Mello captured the Modified Stock Class with Clifford taking top honors in the Unlimited Class. "More and more women are coming out and showing the men that rock crawling is not just for them," said Jeff Cummings, off-road motorsports manager for BFGoodrich Tires. "We are pleased to support everyone that is interested in participating in the sport and we pride ourselves on helping competitors win -- no matter what gender." Unlike many motor sports, rock crawling features women competing head-to-head versus men. Three years ago, a women's championship event was established and BFGoodrich Tires has helped competitors win every year. In 2002, Heather Charles won the title on BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires before the event moved to a two-class competition. In 2001, Nadine Barber took top honors on BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM tires. BFGoodrich Tires has been an active participant in the sport of rock crawling for many years and has built an impressive streak of wins that continues in 2003. The BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX has made a name for itself by winning seven out of a possible 10 major championships in 2002 rock crawling competition. Last week, the brand captured the Eastern Rock Crawling Championship (EROCC) in Jellico, TN and is on its way to several other series championships.
