BFGoodrich® Tires Rolls Out New 20-Inch All-Terrain T/A®KO; New Tire Merges Off-Road Performance with Street Style
Las Vegas NV

NOTE: Please be aware that the BFGoodrich Roadside Assistance and Adventure Assurance warranty programs are discontinued as of December 31, 2004.

BFGoodrich® Tires has developed three new 20-inch All-Terrain T/A®KO tires aimed at the growing marketplace for larger rim diameter light-truck tires.

The new sizes are: LT285/55R20LRD, LT325/60R20LRD and 37X12.50R20LRD. The new All-Terrain T/AKO is designed to blend off-road performance with street style. The 20-inch tire was designed to offer enthusiasts the best of both worlds and is the first tire specifically built to target this growing market.

"When we talked to consumers and dealers about a new product, the words All-Terrain and the number 20 kept coming up," said Thom Peebles, BFGoodrich Tires brand director. "The larger diameter not only offers a choice for those consumers looking for larger tires for their pick-up trucks and SUVs, it also gives customers a new addition to the respected All-Terrain line to offer at their dealerships."

The first vehicle to come standard with a 20-inch tire was the 2001 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson edition. Dodge then introduced a 20-inch tire as an option on the 2002 Dodge Ram pickup, which continues to be offered on current model-year pick-up trucks.

The Rubber Manufacturers Association predicts that more than 100,000 20-inch replacement tires will be sold this year. That number represents more than a 10 percent increase in replacement tire sales versus 2002.

The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/AKO is America's best selling all-terrain tire. Featuring go-anywhere traction and an earned reputation for durability, the All-Terrain T/AKO provides exceptional treadlife and peace of mind in any terrain.

Constructed using BFG's patented TriGard™, three-ply sidewall construction, the new tire offers unmatched durability along with great looks. Benefits of the tire include:
  • Excellent traction and handling on- and off-road
  • Maximized "aired-down" traction and steering control in deep dirt, mud and sand; more aggressive appearance; reduced noise; minimized hydroplaning
  • Improved stress distribution that increases treadlife by up to 12 percent
  • Stiffer tread area for precise steering response and better cornering control, protecting the wheel and tire from on- and off-road hazards
Like all BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/AKO tires, the new 20-inch version features the company's exclusive ShoulderLock™ technology, offering 40 percent wider grooves and upper sidewall traction bars. In addition, a rim protector, dual-compound tread and two full-width steel belts help distinguish the tire from its competition.

The new tire is covered by BFGoodrich's Adventure Assurance Program. If you purchase the 20-inch All-Terrain T/AKO tire in the United States and get stuck while off-road, we'll send a truck to get you anywhere in the United States and Canada.

It's the industry's first and only roadside assistance program that incorporates a manufacturer's off-road assistance program.
