BFGoodrich® Tires Signs On As Official Tire For The USAR Hooters ProCup Series
Greenville, SC

BFGoodrich Tires has signed a multi-year agreement to become the official tire supplier for the 2004 Hooters ProCup stock car racing series.

BFGoodrich Tires will "radialize" the Hooters ProCup series by providing its Traction T/A oval-track tire for use in the series. The tires are of radial construction, as opposed to the previous tire supplier's bias-construction tires. In addition, the company will support each race with a team of tire engineers that will support the 35-40 teams and cars that typically compete in the 30-race Hooters North and Hooters South seasons.

To ease the transition from the older bias-tire technology to modern radial racing tire technology, BFGoodrich engineering support will be particularly heavy during the 2004 season.

"We believe our relationship with the USAR Hooters ProCup will be a win-win situation for everyone involved including our customers," said Todd Steen, motorsports marketing manager for BFGoodrich Tires. "We are not only bringing a new tire, we are bringing radial technology and a breath of fresh air to the teams and drivers which will only add to the excitement of the racing each week."

BFGoodrich will provide two sizes of Traction T/A tires. The right side of the vehicle will utilize 27.0 x 10.0 R 15 and the left side will be equipped with 26.5 x 10.0 R 15. The two sizes are required to provide the appropriate amount of side-to-side "stagger" for fast-paced short-track racing.

Radial tires will provide teams and drivers with improved wear and very stable performance during long green-flag runs. Up to two left-side tread compounds and up to three right-side tread compounds will be offered as a function of the types of tracks visited during the racing season.

"We are extremely pleased to have BFGoodrich Tires join the USAR Hooters ProCup Series as the official tire," said Gene Cox, President of the USAR Hooters ProCup Series. "The addition of radial technology to the series will be a welcomed improvement and provide a new level of competition for our teams."

The Hooters ProCup series is sanctioned by United Speed Alliance Racing and the 30-race schedule will award over $3 million in posted awards this year. Drivers compete in 3,300-pound, full-sized steel-bodied Ford, Chevrolet, Pontiac or Dodge stock cars. This exciting series had more than 170 drivers from 18 states and Canada register to compete in 2003.
