November 18, 2002BFGoodrich® Brand Tires Gets a Grip on the Asia Pacific market, taking the JGTC Title and category wins at Bathurst 24hr race in Australia Singapore Following a colourful debut appearance at the Japan GT Championship GT300 class drivers' Championship (JGTC), BFGoodrich tires outperformed the competition as the brand tightened its grip on the championship this season and emerged on top. BFGoodrich is riding high as sponsor of the unstoppable Autobacs Racing Team Aguri (ARTA). The excitement heated up going into the final race as ARTA with A'PEX, ranked third in the driver scores with only four points between themselves and 1st place, secured the GT300 drivers' championship convincingly. BFGoodrich has clinched a victory in its first foray into the JGTC. Fitted with the tires of BFGoodrich, the ARTA with A'PEX team brought skill and color to the races with a superb performance that reinforces the advantage of outstanding tire technology. Team director of ARTA with A'PEX, Hiroto Kaneso commented: "In a series where tires play a vital role in the outcome of each race, we are very satisfied with the choice to use BFGoodrich Tires on our cars. BFGoodrich's all-out performance is incredibly confidence inspiring. It has brought us to the edge, allowing our drivers to fully test their limits and yet remain in control." Ms. Elaine Tay, BFGoodrich's brand manager in the Asia-Pacific said: "We are very pleased that our first appearance at the JGTC has been such a success. Our ARTA with A'PEX partnership is built on synergy of cutting-edge technology and superior performance. The team's victory during this series demonstrates that convincingly. BFGoodrich's superior tire technology allows improved grip on cornering to increase top speed, due to reduced rolling resistance, and allows drivers the confidence to attempt sharp manoeuvres under all road conditions. We are delighted with this victory in our first season and are confident that BFGoodrich will be making more significant appearances in Asia's racing scene in the coming months." Hot off the press is the news that BFGoodrich has also enjoyed further wins this weekend at the Bathurst 24 hour race in Australia. The first and second position for the Class 10 category were taken by the Duller Motorsport BMWs which both used BFGoodrich tires (these cars also took 3rd and 4th positions outright), while the first three overall winners for the 2 hour Showroom Showdown for GT Performance Cars (the Mitsubishi Evo VI and VII and the Mazda RX7 Twin Turbo) were all sporting BFGoodrich tires. All around the world, BFGoodrich Tires dominate off-road racing, boasting the top five finishers in the 2002 Paris-Dakar race and top spots in the Baja 1000. BFGoodrich now looks poised to extend this winning streak to on-road racing, taking the JGTC and Bathurst 24 hour championships by storm. BFGoodrich® tires, made for people looking to take control of the driving experience, combine technological expertise with the experience gained in motorsports to offer a traction advantage for almost every type of vehicle and driving preference. |
