November 20, 2005BFGoodrich® Tires Toasts to Three Decades of Desert Excellence ENSENADA, MEXICO In 1975, a small group of BFGoodrich® Tires employees came to Baja to test a new tire in the toughest point-to-point race known to man. Thirty years and 20 consecutive championships later, BFGoodrich has become the most dominant brand in off-road desert racing. Over the past 30 years, the name BFGoodrich has become inexorably connected to Baja, and this year the brand that stands above the rest honored the people behind the many victories and championships with a special post-race party. On Saturday, November 19, BFGoodrich Tires commemorated 30 years in Baja at the Estero Beach Resort just south of downtown Ensenada, Mexico. BFGoodrich executive staff, partners, industry friends and past race winners were among the guests celebrating BFGoodrich Tires' past 30 years of SCORE Baja 1000 participation. The party gave BFGoodrich Tires an opportunity to honor those who have helped to achieve a distinguished reputation in the world of off-road racing. The past 20 consecutive Baja 1000 winners, including this year's champions Troy Herbst and Larry Roeseler, were among those recognized with special presentations. Other much-admired off-road legends including SCORE president and CEO, Sal Fish and Frank DeAngelo, BFG Motorsports Person of the Year, were also commended for their contributions to the world of motorsports. "Thirty years of Baja racing, including 20 straight wins takes a lot of committed, hard-working professionals to pull off, and this party was all about honoring those people," said Owen Schiano, brand director for BFGoodrich Tires. "I am extremely proud of each and every driver, pit crew member, technician and brand partner that have made BFGoodrich what it is today. This year alone over 125 people worked to make this race happen."
