December 31, 2002 NDRA Signs BFGoodrich Tires to Continue Class Sponsorship Atlanta, GA The NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Association) today announced that BFGoodrich Tires will return as a class sponsor for the second season of the NOPI The Fast and the Furious Racing Series for the Xbox Cup. BFGoodrich will sponsor the Pro Street Tire class, a newly upgraded class in which cars must run on street tires with tread, not slicks or tires without tread, like most professional drag racers use. The BFGoodrich Pro Street Tires class will be made up of professional drivers who travel the race circuit competing for over $3000 at each event and must compete in a minimum of six out of 10 races to qualify for the year-end class payout of $10,000. The newly defined race class will replace the BFGoodrich Street Tire class from the inaugural season of the NOPI The Fast and the Furious series. "It is extremely important for us to expose our products and brand to this growing customer segment," said Todd Steen, motorsports director for BFGoodrich. "This is the reason why we are teaming up with NOPI and the NDRA. We look forward to another exciting year together." "We are thrilled with the support we have received from BFGoodrich and are pleased to have the company back for a second year of sponsorship," said Michael Meyers, president of NOPI. "The Fast and the Furious Racing Series had a great first year and we're looking forward to providing our sponsors with continued success." The Fast and the Furious Racing Series will begin its 10-race, second season April 12 and 13, 2003, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX. The series will stretch across the country with the world finals culminating on October 18 and 19, 2003, at Drag City in Banning, CA. The world famous NOPI NATIONALS Motorsport Show takes place September 20 and 21, 2003 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
