May 1, 2010Tires are your connection between your experience with your machine and the planet you are negotiating. These tires make that event worth every minute you spend behind the wheel. Regardless of what tire you are coming off of, except racing stock, the first thing you are going to notice is how fast these turn and, the response with the steering wheel is very quick. As you begin to explore the available cornering forces, you'll discover that you can't hold yourself in your seat. You'll pull your shifter out of gear trying to hang on, and your CD player is mistracking from the G forces. (True) Don't expect these tires to have the marshmallow smooth feeling and super quietness of a Michelin, Pirelli, etc., on a straight run, but they are in no way harsh or noisy. Be assured that when you get into the turns they aren't screeching before they need to and start to talk to you nicely with a bit of a growl as you approach their adhesion limits. Wet road cornering and braking performance is outstanding. Deep water performance at speed doesen't quite match the BFG Traction TA, but it's still very impressive. Light snow performance is mixed. Since we had 40" plus here in PA, I had an opportunity to enjoy driving in a variety of snowy conditions. There were some light to moderate snow conditions that my A6 Quattro didn't event know were there, and there were a couple of light snows that made these tires completely useless. I will say that when I finally got to my destination in the really slippery snows, walking without falling was a real chore. Then there were the heavier snows with colder temps, the roads were coated with quite a few inches, and moderately packed, and the traction was really impressive. After 7,500 mi. I'm very impressed. Mounted a set on my wive's Quattro and when the weather is bad she complains about how slow everyone else is driving. Obviosly I don't have enough miles on these to see how the performance changes as they wear, but if they are consistent with all the other BFG's I've used up the only thing that should change is the deep water and snow traction qualities. My experiences so far are completely positive, this is the best BFG, and probably the best street tire I've ever driven on.

>> The sizes shown are average design values for tires measured on specified measuring rim widths. Some tires may vary from this value by +/-3% of the section height (affecting overall diameter), and +/-4% of the section width.
>> Section width varies approximately 0.2" (5mm) for every 0.5" change in rim width.
WARNING: Serious or fatal injury may result from tire failure due to underinflation or overloading. To ensure correct air pressure and vehicle load, refer to vehicle owner's manual or tire information placard on the vehicle. Serious injury or death may result from explosion of tire/rim assembly due to improper mounting. Only tire professionals should mount tires and they should never inflate beyond 40 psi to seat the beads. Before mixing types of tires in any configuration on any vehicle, be sure to check the vehicle owner's manual for its recommendations.
DANGER: Never mount a 16" diameter tire on a 16.5" rim.
DANGER: Never mount a 17" diameter tire on a 17.5" rim.
Inflation pressure increase must not exceed the maximum pressure branded on the tire sidewall. When a customer requests a replacement tire with a lower speed rating than the original equipment tire, you must clearly communicate to him or her that the handling of the vehicle may be different, and that its maximum speed capability is limited to that of the lowest speed-rated tire on the vehicle. **Exceeding the lawful speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.
For high-speed driving, additional inflation pressure and possibly reduced tire loading and/or upsizing is required. In the absence of specific recommendations by the vehicle manufacturer, use the following guidelines based on those in the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization Standards Manual.
For speeds over 160km/h (100 mph), load and inflation must be adjusted according to the table below.
H-Speed Rated Sizes:
Maximum Speed (mph) 100 106 112 118 124 130
