Poor mileage wear

By Floridagirl

Comments about Rugged Terrain T/A:

This tire is supposed to be a 6year/50000 mile warranted tire but I have only gotten 4 years/35000 miles out of them. I have rotated them regularly at the shop and the last time they told me that this would be the last time they could rotate them. This is the second Explorer that I have owned and the first one had a huge tire recall in the late 90's and I replaced those tires with BFG's and have only bought BFG's since. This 2003 Explorer has 17 inch tires so I had to go with the Rugged Terrain's and sorry to say I won't be buying them again. I spent over $800 in tires expecting to get at least the 6 years or 50000 miles but I haven't even gotten that.
I wish the quality was better on this tire.

Average tire

By Bill1969

Comments about Rugged Terrain T/A:

Not impressed. I have owned tires for pick up trucks by 6 different manufactures and driven about 500,000 miles over the years. What I don't like about these BFG's on my Ram 1500 would be wet traction. When they were new they were not that great on wet roads and after 7,000 miles they are still poor. It finally snowed where I live and they are not great in light snow either. When it comes to dry roads they like to chirp and sequel where no other tires did that. I hope they last a long time because that will be the only thing to impress me at this point. Above average cost for a average tire so I would not buy them again.
