His Company, His Way
With a clear vision at 22, Kyle founded Kuhnhausen Metal Concepts LLC. His goal was simple yet bold: to build cars that blend artistry with engineering, creating machines that are as functional as they are breathtaking. This philosophy guided the creation of vehicles like “Ballistic Beige,” a 1964 Corvette that became a Top 3 Hotrod contender at SEMA’s 2020 Battle of the Builders. Unlike “InZanity,” which was purely Kyle’s vision brought to life, “Ballistic Beige” reflected a unique partnership between Kyle and his client — a collaboration where the client’s stylistic preferences were carefully balanced with Kyle’s pursuit of perfection.
Kyle’s father, now retired, works part-time with his son at Kuhnhausen Metal Concepts. “That’s kind of been our ultimate dream since I was a kid — to work together, but on hot rods,” Kyle shares. What began as a father teaching his son has come full circle; now, they collaborate as partners, each bringing their own strengths to the table, fulfilling a dream that’s been decades in the making.
When Creativity and Precision Collide
For Kyle, the garage is a sanctuary where creativity thrives within the confines of precision. “It’s cramped, but it’s cramped in a good way,” Kyle explains. Every tool and machine is on wheels—ready to be rolled out when needed and stowed away when not in use. Over the years, Kyle has fine-tuned this setup, maximizing efficiency in the limited space. This meticulously organized environment allows him to focus on what truly matters — building.
“All I am is a glorified problem solver,” Kyle jokes, yet his problem-solving skills are anything but ordinary. Whether it’s figuring out how to fit oversized components into a tight space or crafting intricate custom parts from scratch, Kyle’s ability to tackle challenges head-on has been central to his success.
Pushing the Limits with Every Build
“I’ll never support anything that I don’t think is the best,” Kyle says, a principle that’s driven him from the start. This commitment to quality is clear in everything he does, including his choice of tires. For him, that means using BFGoodrich tires. For his latest project, a 1966 Corvette dubbed “Serious 66,” Kyle trusts BFGoodrich tires to deliver the performance and reliability his builds demand. “I’m not a spokesman — I truly believe in this,” Kyle emphasizes.
Looking ahead, Kyle’s drive to push the limits is as strong as ever. “Serious 66” is the culmination of everything he’s learned, every challenge he’s tackled, and every dream he’s chased. This Corvette is more than just a car; it’s a gentleman’s race car, meticulously crafted to take on the streets of Southern California — and even a Porsche GT3 at the stoplight. “This car is beyond meticulous,” Kyle notes, reflecting the intense focus and dedication poured into its creation.
