While 40 trails have been honored through 2015, each of the clubs have chosen to spend their grants differently, but all with the same goal in mind – responsible trail use. Below are some recent examples of what clubs have done to conserve their trails.

The Carolina Trail Blazers 4WD Club

Since being awarded an Outstanding Trails grant in 2013, the club has been able to re-route the John Dutch Trail and perform much needed maintenance due to erosion and sedimentation.

Skyliners 4WD Club

BFGoodrich Tires presented the Skyliners 4WD Club with a grant honoring Blacktail/Wild Bill National Recreation Trail as a BFGoodrich Outstanding Trail. Since being awarded the check, the Skyliners 4WD Club has given a grant of $1,000 to a neighboring club in Kalispell to aid them with improvements for the north end of the trail. The club has also used the grant for various equipment rentals. More than 1,031 hours of volunteer labor has been used on the trail.

Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’

Since the selection of the Pritchett Canyon trail in 2008, the Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ club has held numerous work days installing fencing and signage, repairing damage and doing general maintenance on the trail. The Outstanding Trails grant has enabled the club to purchase materials and tools necessary to continue improvements on the trail.

Friends of Fordyce Club

Through the Outstanding Trails program, the Friends of Fordyce have been able to work in conjunction with the Tahoe National Forest Service, the California 4 Wheel Drive Association and other local groups on various projects to help repair, maintain and modify the Fordyce Creek Trail. Together, they’ve been able to build new sections of trail, install signs and help with ongoing maintenance.

Georgia Bounty Runners 4WD Club

BFGoodrich Tires presented Georgia Bounty Runners 4WD Club with a grant in 2008, which has since been used towards the purchase of equipment to assist with trail maintenance for Beasley Knob. The remaining funds will be used to add trails, additional camping areas and a restroom area pending a review from the Forest service.
