Review Summary

The tires provide good performance, handling, and traction, especially on dry and wet roads. Customers praise the stability, comfort, and low noise levels. However, a recurring issue is the tendency of the white lettering to turn brown over time, even with light use, which many find unacceptable. Some report faster-than-expected wear, durability concerns, and poor value. Overall, the tires offer a good driving experience, but the browning lettering is a significant drawback.

Save your money!

It only took a week after I washed the blue protectant off these tires for them to start turning brown. I had no idea this was happening to everyone until I started looking for ways to clean them. Before I bought these, I had a set of 15 year old Firestones and the RWLs would still get bright white with little effort. I had really high hopes for these tires and they failed miserably.

Raised Brown Letter Tires!

If you have a show car or a car you are proud of, DON’T purchase these tires! I’ve read the recommendation in the FAQ section. No car owner should need to spend hours on the letters before enjoying their car!

Tire balding

I have had these tires for three years now and have put less that 20,000 miles on them. They are almost completely bald and have never actually had good traction. Never again.

White lettering turns brown

I also have bfg tires that lettering has turned brown, no matter how much you scrub they will not turn white and stay that way, it is very frustrating, I like everything about them, except that I cannot get the letters to stay white.

I recommend this tire

Value for the money

I bought 4 new tires for my 1971 Corvette almost a year ago to pass state annual inspection. I have just read the browning challenges and I empathize with anyone’s discontent. I have had consumer let down on other products but I have had no issues with my BF Goodrich RWL purchase. I wish all well during these challenging times.

Yellow letters on white letter tires.

The BFG White Letter tires are yellow letter tires! I have contacted them and they have no answers to make them white! I have a white strip down the side of the car that clashes with yellow letter tire. I am switching to Firestone.

Brown Letters

My 155-80r15s are one month old. I bought them specifically because I like the bright contrast of the raised letter look. They began to turn brown immediately upon washing off the "blue". I have noticed other T/A radials that look similar, but I have noted some older ones that are brilliant white. Even some older T/A All Terrains that looked perfect. Lots of your people trying lots of different things but I am not sensing a permanent solution. I can't imagine Michelin messing with the compounding formula. How can they allow this to go on? They certainly know about it! It seems to me to be a QC/QA issue. And I am worried about what one commenter said, that they got to the point of a permanent stain he could not correct! I've tried old formula bleach-white, acetone, lacquer thinner and turpentine. I've put carabuna wax over the "GOOD" in Goodrich to see if it makes any difference. Nothing so far has worked perfectly. They are never brilliant white and they always revert. All I can do is spread the work among collectors to stay away from these tires and encourage Cooker to come up with a BFG equivalent that gives you what you pay for. On a low mileage collector car I am now stuck with these for years cleaning them letter by letter prior to showings. Good luck.

how well the tire holds up

one often wonders if the product they bought how long it will last and problems with that product. This product stayed on my everyday vehicle for over 3 years. I drove with these tires in snow, ice, rain and high winds. I live in Missouri and drove it twice to California with these tires. The vehicle and tires worked well. The tires received a lot of miles. Over 45,000 and wore well and even. Rotated 3 times and balanced, the tire held out well. Driving in a state that has a lot of pot holes, the tires held up well. Tire was worth the money I spent on them. Problem is I wished they would give military discounts for retirees
