Review Summary

The tires provide excellent off-road traction on mud, rocks, and challenging terrain. They also handle well on the road, with some users noting they are quieter than other mud-terrain tires. However, there are concerns about uneven treadwear, with some needing replacement after 20,000 miles. The tires are also described as being on the pricier side.

I recommend this tire

KM3 285/70/17 Toyota 4Runner

Replaced my BFG KO2s with these KM3 3 years ago and I could not be happier with the performance & look of these tires. The on road and off-road performance has been outstanding. With just shy of 40,000 miles I still have 10/32 out of 18/32 left on the tread, all 4 tired have worn perfectly but I do check PSI monthly plus rotate and balance every 5000 miles.I run these on my modified 4Runner with a good amount of extra weight on it and at 75 mph the noise decibel is just under 70 which isn’t bad considering all of the extra accessories I have on my rig. Without question I will be buying  these tires again!

Hi Frustrated, unfortunately, the KM3's are only produced with raised black lettering. We will forward your comments to our Marketing Division for future consideration.

Great look, terrible tread wear

The KM3's look sooooo good, and they preform well on dirt but.......the tread wear has been horrendous. I have about 14,000 miles on them and they cup so bad. I have some knobs that don't even touch the ground. I have to rotate them every 2000 to 4000 miles other wise the treads get so cupped out that the truck vibrates. I can feel each tread lug knocking on the asphalt. I even had my truck realigned just to eliminate that as a possible cause for the early wear and I still only got a couple thousand miles out of them after a fresh alignment before I had to rotate the tires again. The tread overall has worn out fast and is noticeably smaller also. Really disappointed and not sure where to go from here with these.

BEST MT TIRE

I purchased a set of 35" BFG Mud Terrains a few years back for the first time and loved them. When I was ready to move up to 37's they were out of stock. So, I purchased a set of Discovery SST Coopers in 37". Good tire but I sold them as I felt that they couldn't compete with my KM3. SO now my FJ Cruiser and JK Rubicon are both sitting on KM3 tires. These are great for the daily drive and excellent on the rocks. My JK will now move up to 39" KM3s as soon as these 37's wear down and my dana 60’s get built. Needless to say this will no longer be a daily driver. Unfortunately, this isn't happening fast enough. But I absolutely love these, and I think highly recommend them without a doubt.

I recommend this tire

really soft

I bought a set of KM3s over the summer for my 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax and have used them for mostly on road driving with 4-5 easy going offered trips. I have found that they have wonderful traction on rocks, mud, and snow but they are a little soft. My tires have 5k miles on them and I have massive chunks (entire lugs) missing from my rear tires. Each time I go crawling or off road driving they lose more and more. Overall a wonderful tire but haven't lasted me at all.

Not for pavement

I purchased for my F250. Could not use cruise control or automatic traction control enroute to the mountains. Increased braking distance on pavement -BUT off road spectacular.

Completely surprised at Pre-mature wear

Bought a brand new Jeep Unlimited JK Willys edition. Look of tire is great. After and second rotation, mechanic called and said we had severe cupping on the front and we rotated to back next oil change and winter beginning and the rear tires do not have enough to be safe. The Jeep has 29,000 miles on them. Always thought BF Goodrich was the best. Tires are rated for 60,000 and didn’t make it have way. Suggestions?

Wouldn't recommend for all around driving

Initially the tires performed good and after less than 25,000 miles on then started vibrating and making allot of noise. were rotated every 5K and air pressure checked monthly.

Blown sidewall

Weak sidewalls, bought because I hoped they were tougher than stock bighorns but after 2 months and normal recreational driving already have two sidewalls with punctures.

Terrible treadlife

I bought these tires new from discount tire, not even a year ago after buying my truck (2020 chevy 2500hd diesel 4x4), some dirt/mud but mostly asphalt driving, and the tread is at 6/32 out of 20/32 from new. In less than a year I have almost completely worn these tires out what a waste of $1600, Not to mention they are the noisiest m/t I have ever ran, I will be going to to Firestone m/t 2s , so far they are way better than these tires. Tire pressures were 65 rear and 60psi front rotation at every 5k miles (tires lasted 14,500 miles before replacing) No towing during this period.

Not on pavement!

38k miles. Horrible, teeth rattling, bone jarring pavement ride. Trail? Sure, I don't know. Interstate? Not no, but HECK NO!
